What people are saying about

TUOLUMNE BLUES

You guys are a blast to be with and what better place to celebrate your successful, ongoing collaboration than to dance and sing together in the woods of Northern CA!! Can't wait, as always. Max says, "I wonder what they'll have for lunch when we get there?" and Cristina says, " I love listening to the water flowing by while enjoying a good book sitting in a comfortable Adirondack chair." Me, that all sounds good, but jumping into the swimming hole off the big rocks seems to bring it all together for me, along with the food, the great tunes, the staff, the showers.

I love Tuolumne because it brings out the "Hippie" in everybody. It is just so mellow to catch some rays and take a nap down by the river. Everybody is having fun and is in a carnival type of mood, kids and adults having fun. And the topper is the music Saturday night. If you come, you will be hooked.

My family and I have been coming to Blues Camp for four years. The time of year is right for all of us to get together. The Tuolumne River is beautiful and the campsite is family friendly. The price is right and the company is exceptional.

Thank you for the fantastic times we have had at the Tuolumne Blues weekend. We've been 3 times, and have discovered something new each time. Two or three days a year just isn't enough time to do all of the things that the camp has to offer, but here are a few of the things we have enjoyed over the years:
The band:
The band always has a new surprise in store. New songs, new guest performers, the fabulous wheel of requests, the warm-up acts. You haven't gotten a true taste of Tamsen Donner until you're alone in the wilderness with her.....uh, I mean them. Perhaps I should re-phrase that.
The jam:
Where else can I fulfill my childhood dreams of rock stardom. One Friday night a year, I am Neil Young (on a bad night).
The food:
There's lots of it and it's good. And best of all, someone else cooks and cleans.
The kids:
We arrive Friday night and I'm lucky if I see my kids two or three times before we leave on Sunday. Roaming bands of pre-teens form early in the weekend, only to be broken up by their forced departure. My kids are so upset about having to leave that they don't start to forgive us until we hit Escalon, and that is just because they are getting hungry again.
Sports:
I've ruined two pairs of shoes in the volleyball grudge match. And I'd do it again. Is Bocce considered a sport? The kids and I have had a great time with that too. I'm honing my aerial attack for the next camp basketball game. I plan on taking it to the rack over Jimmy V. Or at least beating him at HORSE.
Nature:
No offense to TDB, but the mountains, river, and camp are the true star of the Tuolumne Blues camp experience. We've hiked to Small Falls a couple of times. Joan hiked to the top of Half Dome a couple of years ago and was back in time for dinner. The swimming hole at the camp is a terrific gathering place for kids and adults alike. One of these days I'm going to get around to doing some fishing.
Friends:
One of the best things about camp is we've enjoyed making new friends and re-kindling old friendships. When you sing campfire songs with someone, you can't help but become friends.
You've created a truly special tradition with the Tuolumne Blues camp. Thanks for including us.
